1960s loose leaf sheng puerh (dry-stored)

Description

What makes this Actually Rare: It’s from the 1960s, the leaves are obviously from old trees, and it’s dry-stored!

Old loose leaf puerh before 70s are rarely available, but even the ones that are available usually have some degree of storage flavours (dunk, musty, unpleasant). This has been dry-stored very cleanly in North America from the 80s (natural storage before).

It’s only thanks to our collector friend generosity we’re able to sell it at this price, enjoy a unique experience and cheer to him as you sip, if you like. There are people in the world that really don’t care about money, and would love their tea to be drank by kindred spirits, this is what’s happening with this Tea.

As for the experience: I’ll let the reviews speak for this one, we’ve been adding a small sample bag to orders and everyone that tried it so far has been amazed.

May ’21 Stock Update: Apologies, we nearly run out of this Tea, so it’s only available in 10g bags. 1 bag per customer.

A few words about verifying the age of this Tea

It’s impossible to accurately verify the age of loose leaf puerh, but this Tea has been bought and stored by a collector near when it was produced (80s), it hasn’t passed many hands like usual so we’re confident in the 60s dating.

We’ve been able to verify other tea of this collector to be the same age as sold, we also have a personal relationship based on shared understanding of Buddhism and we trust him completely with his word.

Further, because prices of puerh were so much lower in the 80s there was no reason to sell loose leaf fakes, this tea was so cheap it would’ve been sold to restaurants ordinarily.

With that all said… don’t buy this Tea because it’s from the 60s only! Honestly, it’s just a number. It’s clearly older than a 90s (I believe anyone could tell that given a sample), and an 80s (with some experience this is also easy to tell). After that mark, I believe it’s much more about the energy (and flavour) you get with loose leaf, and this one has amazing energy without storage flavours, this makes it an exceptional find in its category.

Pre 70s loose leaf is usually sold in the $3-5+ per gram range ($2-4 for 70-80s), though I expect the dry storage could make it go much higher.

Drinking something like no other!! 1960's sheng... if i had to choose one tea to drink for the rest of my life this would be it and i would probably be the happiest man alive. I'm so greatful to have experienced this wonderful tea, i will forever be searching for something on a similar level or better if that's possible. It's hard for me to describe this one being as im so new to drinking puerh but honestly the best tea by far, nothing in my collection comes close to this!!
