Description

Bitter (but not very astringent), strong, thick, strong huigan (returning sweetness). Immediate Qi, I felt my body so much stronger in one cup. Powerfully energizing. Lots of steepings.

Menghai material with a character like Banzhang or Lao Man E, harvested at 1800 meter altitude so very clean and no pesticides, this is really concentrated “masculine” tea. While this is not Banzhang proper, this is one of the closest you’ll get (at less than $1000 a cake).

This cake sells on the producers website for $544 (!). We have a much lower price but we only have a few for sale. I think this would also be a great candidate for further aging (dry or natural), the fact that it’s a blend and has all this strength that should transform very, very nicely makes it a strong candidate to be a timeless classic.

Big yang tea. If I blind tasted this I would guess it to be 10 year old Lao man e or Jie Liang. Thick, powerful but smooth bitterness, notes of slate and oak barrel and a hint of fennel. Huge huigan and what I refer to as stoned roadrunner qi. Compared to the big factory Menghai teas this tea is simultaneously more powerful and refined. Very clean storage. Lost count of how many steeps I got. I’m mostly an Yiwu drinker but when I need a hefty yang kick in the arse these types of Menghai tea fit the bill nicely
